Sports Game - baseball , football , soccer and basketbal games

-Story-
You're a buisness owner who has recently purchased a major leauge sports team, and you want to build them a new stadium to increase fan revenues.

-Gameplay-
The first choice in the game that would have to be made would be which city you'll be building a stadium for, because climate does affect things such as fan rating and fan turnout. Next, you'd pick a field type. I think that there should be four choices (baseball, football, soccer, and basketball) and that when starting out you can only pick one sport. In the case of baseball you'll also have to pick field dimensions but those should also be able to change as the stadium evolves.Also, you'll be given a choice of game surface. For instance, if you've decided to build a baseball field you'll be given choices of grass or turf, or that new type of turf that looks like grass. Then, you'll be given a sort of "paintbrush" with which you can place dirt and white lines for a more custom look. Heck, who ever said that you should be limited to white lines? You can pick any color of line you want, though on grass not all colors are good. You can choose the way the grass is cut by giving the ground crews a path to follow while cutting, and in basketball you can choose a wood grain pattern too.

Next you would place your field, keeping in mind the direction of the local winds as well as the position of the sun. Do you want the first baseman to have to squint to pick out a throw from third in the middle of a nasty glare, or would you rather have the batter put up with it? Finally the *magic* starts, as you place the first grandstand. I'm not really sure what would be a good method for stand placement, though I'll say that it CAN NOT BE BASED ON A GRID SYSTEM! Sim city has already proven to me that this system is flawed, since the world is not based on a series of perpendicular lines. I'm hoping someone else can help me think up a better method to put down stands. Btw, when placing stands you would also pick an angle of seating. More fans can be packed in when the seats are at a 50 degree slope to the field as compared to a 45.

When you've begun to place the seats, you might notice that you are on a budget here (though it will be a very loose one since you are rich and damn it what's the point of building a stadium if it's only half finished on opening day) and that you will have to skip such things as every seat having an arse warmer. Also, as the rows of seats rise up you'll need to place walkways for fans so that they can get to them. What do you know, and you can place food and souvenir stands right along side the walkways! Lol, isn't that amazing? Now that you've finished the main construction you can begin to focus on the details of it.

What will you be selling in the stands themselves? Anything at all? Or will you have a beer man in every section? Is it cost-effective to have a foul ball net behind home plate, after all you'll only be sued if someone is hit with a foul ball. What do you want your team's logo to look like? (I was thinking that you would be able to import bitmaps and jpegs of it from your hard drive into the game) Will there be hats and coats for sale, or just hats? What colors will you paint your new stadium? Will you have the groundsmen repaint the structure every 3 years, or 4? What kind of music, what kind of sound system even? (another interesting thing I was pondering, what if you could have the game access .mp3's from your hard drive so that you could have your stadium play any song you wished? And what if the program automatically made your songs sound as if they were coming over the P.A. instead of just playing them?) How much will you charge for hot dogs? For mustard? For the restrooms? Like I said, tons of decisions…

And then the season begins.
Did you remember to provide enough parking? Did you remember to charge the fans for it? Once the season began the requests box in the main office of your stadium will fill up with pleas from the fans for new things in your stadium (such as more women's restrooms, or a doughnut shop by section 131u, or a pool in the outfield). After a few games, your stadium will develop a reputation from the fans and the opposing teams you host. If your visiting team locker rooms are lacking, you'll be the first to know. If the leaking pipes above section 72l leaking water or something worse, you'll have to fix them in order to keep a high rating.

The most important ratings will be 3 things;
Home Team Rating= how much your own players like what you've built Fan Rating= how much your fans like the structure (this will also go down as your prices rise) City Rating= how much the town likes it, if this gets too low you'll be forced to move the team

This is an example of just how pure genius the sim city-genre is. Look at any construction you like; a city, a hospital, an amusement park, or, like here, a sports stadium. Still there are enough original elements in this idea to make even this idea quite decent. Well done, Mike!
