I don't know if any of you are familiar with a TV show called "Robot Wars", I think a version of it is shown in the US, in short, its a show which involves people building their own custom R/C robots for battle against each other, this idea originated in Japan.

A game following this idea of creating your custom robots by combining various weapons, forms/strengths of engines, armour, special devices etc seems like a good idea to me, this kind of game would best suit for the PC. Custom skins could be made, robot parts could be traded over the net, and best of all, battles and tournaments could take place in online battledromes. Players would control their creations from a high view as if to assume a person controlling it via a remote control. And perhaps have a view from the robot (if they attached a "camera upgrade" for example)

If this kind of game was made, no doubt professional gamers (if not then the games company in the first place) would code programs and addons which would enable players to code scripts onto how their bots act, customise their own control systems etc and customise their bots even further to their own tastes and to adapt to their own gaming methods. A separate, easy to use, programming language could be made for use of gamers and would provide an excellent tool for young people who want to start getting into coding and game development.

The game would also provide a source for creativity, designs, logos and colour schemes could all be imported into the bots 3d models, (similar to quake skins)

Battledromes in which these bots could battle could vary aswell in many ways. Level editors would ensure this. and it wouldn't have to be limited to 1 on 1 fights. teams of robots (with their own customised, specially coded and upgraded bots to suit each others fighting methods) could fight against other groups, teams could have preplanned tactics for crushing the enemy. just a thought.

Of course we watch Robot Wars, what did you expect?! It's a kick ass show! :] As much as you I would love to see a Robot Wars game.
