In this game you pick your favorite deity to become ( God, Satan maybe even lesser deities like Gaia and so forth). The object is to get as many worshippers generating good (or bad) carma for you so that you can use your power to destroy your enemy's worshippers or protect your own.

Features would include:
--Ability to create natural disasters
--Potential worshippers can be won through fear or love
--You can subvert your enemy through overt force or subvert the enemy with false teachers or good deeds
--Victory is reached by eliminating all of the opposing forces worshippers by wooing them to your side or by declaring Armeggedon

Become your own god! Rule the world through kindness or with an iron fist! Rule justly or capriciously, it's your choice.

There are quite a few games out there that lets you take the role of a God or Demon, and the best to come might (I'm quite sure) be the awesome looking Black & White. Don't know if it's anything like your game idea though.
