The Journeyman Project 4: Time
War
FPS Adventure Game
I'm a big fan of the Journeyman Project series and would like to see
more done with the very well conceived universe that Presto Studios created.
Story:
Set after the events of 'Legacy of Time', Earth has decided to share it's
time travel technology with the rest of the Symbiotry of Peaceful Beings,
under Earth supervision, of course. A home-base has been created near
the beginning of time, on a planet designated Chronos, which would be
swallowed by a black hole well before any civilization could evolve to
find it. On it is stored the histories of the various Symbiotry member
planets, as well as a secret vault containing the Legacy, where Earth
Government is storing it to be researched. It is overseen by a copy of
Arthur, the A.I. from the last two Journeyman series.
Gage Blackwood (hero from the first three series) now oversees the Universal
TSA and is finishing the last planet's TSA setup when a time displacement
wave hits. He and his team travel back to Chronos to escape it, and then
return to 'the present' find the planet is gone. Going back to the time
displacement origin, Gage finds a group of warriors depositing a planet-killing
bomb in the planet's recent past. Then the warriors phase out. They have
time-travel technology! Using Chronos as your base, you must defeat this
threat to the Symbiotry.
Gameplay:
Unlike previous Journeyman games, this one will operate like a FPS in
it's movement, so to give more of an immersion feel and allow more exploration.
Since you will be fighting an out-and-out battle for survival, the pace
will be more fast and furious as natives to a time period or enemy warriors
can walk by. You will have some warning of approaching life-forms, but
it will be more random. Also, the storyline will be moved along using
the game engine rather than full motion video like before.
Also new will be that your agent will be given a set of tools to work
with, as well as the objects gathered from the time stream. You will have
the ability to upgrade your tools as time goes by, depending on what you
find or what you capture.
The hallmark of the JP games was it's ability to solve problems without
resorting to overt violence (the Gandhi points of the first game). The
ease of gathering vital info and tools will depend on no-violent solutions.
Killing a person will result in the destruction of his/her equipment,
as well as the need to dispose of the body, as to not distrupt the timestream
even more. Part of your equipment will include the usual timejump chip,
a capture field, a cloaking device (movement makes you easier to detect)
and later, a time-distrupter that sends your 'victim' back to their origin
point and a chameleon chip that will let you take on other people's appearances.
Another new element will be the ability to choose what agent you want
to be and what missions you go on. This will vary your ability to solve
the mission and what the outcome is. This can allow better replay ability.
On top of the story-mode is a group-mode that can be played via networks
or the Internet. These are stand-alone missions that can have you and
other players either compete or work together to solve.

childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - C. S. Lewis
