Shreds Survey
I developed a game concept some years ago, called Shreds. The intended
target was any machine capable of graphics and Internet access.
A few times, I've tried to get the big developers to take notice of the
concept. Of course, rejection was the norm with the attitude that no good
idea could come from a lone sole.
As I search the web, I see more and more developments similar to my original
intent. . .but not exactly.
For posterity sake, I'd like to ask for your opinion on the concept. The
description is somewhat brief and probably confusing.
The Back Story (for those still reading)
A multi-star system, with polarizing gravitational fields, has caused
planets to crack and split like shreds. The shreds range from 5 to 20,000
square miles and orbit in a somewhat controlled manner. Random debris
from comets and such, add to the instability of the system. The inhabitants
need to escape to distant solar systems or face death.
Player objectives are as follows:
Players must locate a mineral, which is known to exist on one of the shreds
that can extend their life span. This is needed in order to reach one
of the distant solar systems alive.
Careful planning must be used when deciding which system to escape to.
Considerations must include, length of voyage, trajectory (might not be
there later), supplies, etc.
Player(s) must construct something to travel on to the distant system.
It must be capable of sustaining its occupants as necessary.
Avoid being a casualty. Finding a cloak generator is good; if you don't
have one, hide! When a player is struck by another player, the player
will be immune from the offending player for three hours. Email is sent
to players to warn them of the attack. However, if being attacked by a
team, each team member gets a shot at you. So find, hide, and work together.
Oxygen, food, water and weaponry are all commodities. Running out of these
items could be fatal. Player(s) acquire items by finding them, or from
the spoils of battle. Destroying another player rewards you with their
collectables (if any).
Players must be ready to abandoned shreds in a moments notice. Devastating
collisions between shreds and other debris occur frequently.

An exploratory mode allows you to ravage through any shred or space station
that you are currently on without the need of maintaining a connection.
However, once you reconnect, your environment will be updated with the
live profile. You could wake to a beating, be crushed by a comet or eaten
by predators.
Players can have private conversations with others and formulate teams.
Well, you get the idea.
Granted, the project is complex, but I think doable. There are a lot of
details left out and in all honesty I haven't thought through them all.
Does this game exist?
Is this game about to be released?
Would you consider playing it?

Had some problems understanding your idea;
Were people supposed to help each other out, constructing something to
get their asses to another planet, and in that case, why fight each other?
And is the game based mailnly on action, exploring, strategy or something
else? If you got more details on the idea we`d gladly post it on the site,
because the concept seemed solid enough. And no, can`t say I have seen
the game in the s tores before.
