A REAL First Person Shooter
First Person Shooter - FPS with large scale Worlds like the EverQuest
RPG
Sometimes when I play an online RPG such as EverQuest, I wonder...
Why? Why don't First Person Shooters have worlds THIS big? So this is
my new idea for an online-only FPS game. A world as large as EverQuest,
you join one of 6 factions and you are all trying to get rid of one faction.
I'll add a storyline to make sense out of this:
The year is 3052, the nuclear holocaust just ended, it was made to seem
like an accident, but planned by the two superpowers of the world (China
and the United States). After over a thousand years under communist rule,
China became a democracy in 3021 and the president, Mao Chin Mong, realized
that mother earth would be overpopulated soon, so he planned this nuclear
holocaust to "lay off" as many people as possible. He would rather be
sent to hell than have so many humans die of overpopulation. The United
States president, Tom Brikow, agreed with him but he had other plans,
he wanted to become the one sole ruler of the planet by "accidentally"
aiming a nuclear missile at the Chinese capital. Well it worked and a
year later, you're a clan member trying to kill the President of the United
States.
End of Storyline
Back to the explanation
So now the survivors of the 6 remaining countries (Norway, Japan, Spain,
Germany, Australia, and Kenya) must use what they remember of their weapon's
technology to battle against who takes control of the nation. The United
States would be computer controlled with a BUNCH of different robots and
trained fighters to fight for them. Each country has their own specific
weapons, there are kind of mini-quests where you have to find some materials
in caves and such and bring them back to the scientists left in your civilization
so that they can build the weapons for you. The United States will have
much more advanced weapons but it's 6 against 1, although the factions
all fight each other since they want their country to become the savior
of the planet.
Combat is Real-Time, and the maps would
be made to be very strategical.
This game would also include something that many games should have: Tools
to get on buildings other than just running in through the door. If anyone
has played Tenchu, you know what that clasp thing is like, you grab on
to the roof of a building and climb up it or swing across. It's a lot
to ask for, you should also be able to break through walls with plastique
and dynamites, this is the future though so there are new, harder to destroy
materials out there. There could also be a way of getting a pool of materials
from the whole civilization and there would be an official builder who
would build the stronghold for that civ. The more materials you have,
the better and bigger your base will be. That would certainly cause players
to want to work for the good of their country :) .
And that's it, I think this game would be extremely fun to play. And extremely
addictive. I can see giant battles against strongholds and people snipering
others from the towers while some place mines and such.

I'm glad Norway was one of the surviving countries!
I bet you knew that we live in Norway, and made Norway a surviving country
just to make us happy ;) am I right?
