The Five Second Wars
Background -
Set in the present to near future. based on the actions of an elite Counter
Terrorist or Terrorist force. After the degredation of modern politics
and the World resorting to underhanded terrorism to fight their wars,
instead of all out bloodshed, the AlliedPowerbase made a force to deal
with them, a cross between Spec Forces and all out Army, they are made
to deal with the problems. Of course, the opposing nations also have their
elite forces to attack and defend against the Allied forces, both sides
with the weapons and treining to deciate the other. Both sides realise
how careful they must b. A flick of the switch, and their whole empire
can be ashes, so this is reflected in your actions. Do something haynously
wrong andthe other side will get mean. Do little at all, and you can be
overrun
Gameplay -
The gameplay will not stray much really from the "rainbow Six" Context
of Plan and fight, only this time the planning is done in real time. When
you arrie on the scene, you set up a baseat a good area, because thereis
nothing stopping them from shooting you while you're working out a plan.
The planning stage is very involved, lots of options, heaps of variables.
Basically the situation is put there before you, and there is no set best
course of action. Your men could swing in through a window, or blow the
whole building, whatever you feel, but it will reflect in the state of
the conflict. Screw up very bad, and you could have the enemy flinging
nukes at you. During the planning, you can do anything rescources will
allow. If you don't assign the correct forces to the situation, then you
can't do it, and you have to pull out. The reason the planning will take
a while, is one, the combat itself takes all of 5 - 10 seconds if done
properly. A case of blow door and window, enter, shoot, and finish. This
is meant to represent the reality of Counter Terrorism operations, where
the combat doesn't last for ages as your men walk all over the place looking
for something, but are in and out fast. Secondly, while planning, you
have to negotiate, with a multitude of paragraphs to say, as well as a
pile of gathered intelligence to call upon, including psychalogical analyses's
of the Terrorists, habits, ideals and anything else you can use against
them. If you do it well enough, you can talk them into coming out, though
it is rarely done, at most a lot of the time you can just keep the hostages
alive and the bombs un-detonated. At worst, saying the wrong thing will
cause them to go bezerk. Now this brings us to the global scale play.
You not only command a small force, but you decide where to put who, attack,
defend, place train whateer you feel necessary, if you want you can take
over the world with your troops. Basically, we'd place the world before
you and allow you to roam. You have to place troops near intels estimated
hot spots to be on the ready to respond to attacks. Much like X-com games.
As far as the gameplay visually is concerned, I'd like to see something
like the Sims, with an isemetric veiw point and fully 3D troopers, on
a global scale, a 3D globe will be nice to rotate and decide where to
assignyour troopers.
Just to add a bit more depth, heres a timeline of gameplay.
1-An
alertsounds of an Enemy attack on the small embassy in North Africa. Your
nearest troops are situated in Egypt, so you send the to the Situation.
Also, a full intelligence breifg on all known aspects is faxed to you
while you fly yourself to the situation, or one of your field coanders,
whoever is closest
2-
You arrive on scene, and first set up a base of operations, just across
a parking lot, on a wall side of the structure, where no windows are visible.
3-
You have a fw choices of how to communicate. You decide that calling them
on the embassy phones is best. While negotiating, you get info on how
many hostages, and manage to get them thinking that we are civilians,
and want the situation over whatever a cost to the locals, so they demans
a Helicopter to leave, and three prisoners released. So you agree, And
order a Chopper in.
4-
You place 4 men in the chopper and four men placed discreetly around the
building.
5-
According to the plan, you give the go code, the men leap out of the plane
and kill two of the four terrorists, One gets off a shot and manages to
wound one of your men, but they are quickly dispatched by the 4 who camefrom
the rear, that where hiding near the building Total operation time, 4
seconds.
Final notes - This idea is for a realistic CT operations game, not for
a fun shootem up. You will have very little control over your troops once
you give the go code, so planning is Important!

After I had read through your idea a couple
if times (I was a bit tired, so it was necessary), I think I got the picture.
The thing is that I still got that picture in my head :)
