Imagine if the victorian era never ended, that the present is simply a mixture of the old colonial world and a future dominated by steam powered might, made grimy by a society taken to the limits of its crude technology. A world in which electricity was never invented. With America being held as the land of opportunity, the arguments of Old Europe are beginning to look decidedly messy. Cracks are showing in all the empires, yet the traditions of warring states in Europe remains. There is growing panic that society is about to fall apart. Steam is a strategical combat game in which players take on the role of the common masses, the army, or the gentry. Its look is a cross between victorian and modern architecture. Dark and grimy industrial areas with lots of hard steel work. The game could be played online with the bonus of great players being given the opportunity to take on roles. For example, a group playing as ordinary soldiers may be spurred on by the fact that they have just been joined by Sir Randolph Johnson with his steam powered chainsaw and exo skelatal body armor, as he strides shoulders above men and cuts swathes through his enemies!! steam technology
