3D GameStudio is a very popular game design software amongst
independent game developers. Many successful games have been
published using game engines that were created using 3D GameStudio,
several hundred titles have been published so far. The program
is just as well fit for making 2D games as it is for making
3D games. It combines the C-Script programming language with
a high-end 3D engine, a 2D engine, a physics engine, a level,
terrain and model editor, and huge libraries of 3D objects,
artwork and pre-made games. But be aware, 3D GameStudio is far
more advanced than some of the other game development software
out there. Some basic knowledge of game design and programming
will be required to get the most out of 3D GameStudio. You can
still though make simple games without any programming using
the programs step-by-step tutorials and available game engines.
