In my game idea, you could create your own player and put him on one of the many high school teams across the nation (I was thinking that there could be 5-10 in each state). If this player is good enough, he could get invited to camps in the off season and maybe even invited to play on an AAU team. If your player plays well enough he could even get letters from some of the top schools around the nation. Or, if he isn’t quite that good, maybe some mid-majors will come calling. By the time your player is a senior he may have caught the eye of many people, and he could get invited to the McDonald’s All-American game or the EA Sports Roundball Classic. Once your player picks the college that he wants to attend (I was thinking that every D1 school, from every conference, could be included. There could also be 50 D2 schools and 50 D3 schools (one for each state)), you could import your player into the college game. Your player could help lead his team through the regular season, the conference tournament, and all the way to the NCAA tournament. If he is good enough he could catch the eye of an NBA scout. Your player could go anywhere from a lottery pick to the last pick of the draft, and then he has to try to make an NBA squad. If your player does this, you could import your player into an NBA game. Of course, if your player isn’t good enough then he could see his dreams crushed by the time he is a senior in high school.
You could also coach one of the elite high school teams in the nation. Your team could be invited to tournaments with other big time schools, from other states, and you may even make your way onto the ESPN/USA Today poll. College coaches would also send you letters about some of your players, and you could recommend the college that they should attend. You could eventually work your way into the college ranks, breaking into the college game with a small D3 school, and moving up the ladder to become the coach at Indiana. As the coach you are in charge, you can decide who you want to recruit and who you don’t. You make all the decisions, and if you make the right ones you can lead your team through the regular season, the conference tournament, and all the way to the Final Four. After a long time in the college ranks do you feel like its time for a change? You can try to become the coach for an NBA team, where you are in charge. You can decide who you draft and who you don’t.
I know that this game is very complex, and that there would be a lot of teams and players involved, but I strongly believe that this game would be a great seller. Many people would be interested in this game because anyone who has ever played high school basketball, and even people who haven’t, dream of being recruited by the top schools in the nation. This game could make it happen.
