Today's front page article in the New York Times (5/29/2003) says that shoot-em-up video games, the kind with hand-held guns and bad guys that pop out at you, have been shown to increase peripheral vision and visual quickness. As of today, thousands of girls and parents are thinking, ``its not fair, boys get to increase their visual skills and girls don't.''
Whence this Game Idea: Fashion Police. The player can choose one of several Shopping Mall venues (big department store, restuarant, creepy night-time, etc.). The player moves through the mall, and various people pop out from behind things. In most cases, the clothes don't match, according to the following rules (or something similar): Striped bottom goes with solid top Solid bottom goes with polka-dot top Polka-dot bottom goes with striped top
Aim your gun at the mismatched person, and fire to ``rotate'' the shirt pattern through the three options, solid-polka-striped. The player may have to fire once or twice depending on the pants, and if she overshoots, she has to go around again.
Score points for the number of shoppers fixed in a certain time/number of shots. Advance to higher floors in the mall (with nicer-looking stuff), and participate in ceremonies honoring your fashion sense.
The creepy version is a little edgier, taking place in a dark empty mall at night, and involving ghosts and phantoms. There could be a ``violence'' option for really shooting badly-matched players, to appeal to the boys. No reason a video game can't have both ``nice' and `violent' options.

I like it. I myself am not into these kind of games, but I'm sure an audience would surround it imediately; although limited. In other words, it's a great idea but I dont think LOTS of people would buy it from stores, or if they did, they wouldn't play it as much as GTA or the Sims for that matter. I like how you organized it (proceeding to different levels of the malls, and so forth). All in all, IT'S GREAT!
