A typical boxing game with normal matches , like title fights or exhibition fights. But it starts to get good when I talk about online play! A huge network is set up to hold thousands of people. You can play exhibition fights against others to earn attribute points or can dare to face the heavyweight/lightweight etc champion. You create a character and if you want you can use your face on them. Or if you prefer the game will have proffessional fighters like Lennox Lewis, Sugar Ray Lenard and even Mike Tyson . Well u create or choose a player and then u create his/her attributes like spped stamina power etc.... after that u can challenge others(only at your skill. so if u want to fight say the champion ull have to fight ur way up.) after each match a newspaper article is show about the results of the fight. U can also train to get ur attribute points and once u have enuf u can challenge the champ but u have to fight at least 10 times so u dont just train the whole time to get points.) there will be a room on the server which has every single players records. rated from best to worst. So the champs with belts will be at the top and begginers with a low win percentage will be at the bottom. also this will be played on PS2 the voice chat will be nice once youve knocked out your opponent and want to brag about it. Say you get knocked out u rotate the joystick which fill up a little meter at the bottom. once that meter is filled up ull get back up from being KOd. But the worse beating u get the harder it is to get that meter to fill up. The controls will be simple with right jab, left jab, uppercut, right hook and left hook. **i forgot to mention about creating the character that u also create their manager who gets u publicity and endorsement deals from nike and stuff like that. u also create the players reach, weight height etc...
the staduims are different . if ur at a low ranking in the standings ull fight in low budget arenas but at champion level you will fight in maybe las vegas! well thats my game idea I hope you like it.

Basically an online boxing game. The system you mentioned could do with some work, however. From what you describe, if they have a similar track record, you can fight anyone else. Why not have multiple tournaments as well as these 'friendlies' you mention, each tournament is split into weight rankings as in the actual sport (flyweight to heavyweight) thus the heavier your boxer is, the more muscular in general they are, but so are their opponents. The weight tournaments should further be divided into ability groups (beginner/intermediate/pro), with the boxer only being able to enter a certain group with a minimum number of fights and a certain win percentage. I recommend against using 'real' boxers- it would cost money to do so and whoever used them would have an advantage over user-created ones, resulting in imbalances. The training I feel should be limited to a certain amount per match fought, thus people with no life can't just pump their new fighter up to the max then massacre everyone in the beginner tournaments. More detail is needed on the punches- what is the scissors/paper/stone arrangement? Is there one? (ie what beats what) Can you lean/duck to avoid blows? Feint? Move around even? The endorsement deals seem somewhat tacked on- they would be more important in a single player game, rather than the multiplayer one you are describing where ranking replaces money in what you are hunting. What difference does the physical attributes make? Does reach also slow down the boxer's moves? Does weight slow down their movement? etc, etc. In short, you have the bare bones of a decent multiplayer boxing game. Stick to that, ignore all the usual single player nonsense (except for maybe a tutorial/training) and expand on what you have left and you may have something.
