Armed to the Teeth is a turn-based strategy fighting game.
The game takes place in the distant future in a battle arena. A futurist, steel, gladiator arena.
You control one of 15 characters.
The focus of the game is to keep your character alive, build up their equipment and win each of the matches.
How Combat Works:
Each turn the player is given 3 targets. These targets are selected at random from the opponent, based on the size of the target. For example, hitting the torso is easier than hitting the eyes, so it is more likely that the torso would be a target. The player may or may not be able to damage the target. It depends on if the opponent has armour protecting that attack point. There are two ways to overcome armour. One is brute force, if you are armed with a hammer, you can attack armour and damage the armour, and possible the opponent as well (If your weapon damage is greater than the absorption rate). If the armour takes enough, damage it become useless. The second way is if your weapon fits a vulnerability of the armour. For example, regular eye goggles may protect against impact weapons, but a laser would still get through. Alternatively, a needle weapon could get through chainmail. The player will need to know what works and what doesn’t. If they select the wrong weapon, they basically waste a turn. The Target Display will indicate what armour is protecting the target. In addition, to make it easier, only valid target will be selectable (i.e. not grayed out).
Outside the Arena:
Items can be bought, sold, equipped and repaired from this screen. The character has an inventory and it has two representation of their body. The one on the left represent their offence equipment, the one of the right represent their defense equipment. Defense equipment can cover all possible attack points. When in battle there are 14 points to target attacks:
Target Points:
Left Foot: Mobility point, small target
Right Foot: Mobility point, small target
Left Leg: Mobility point, normal target
Right Leg: Mobility point, normal target
Stomach: Large Target
Torso: Large Target
Left Arm: Mobility point, normal target
Right Arm: Mobility point, normal target
Left Hand: Mobility point, small target
Right Hand: Mobility point, small target
Neck: Critical point, small target
Teeth: Pain point, very small target
Head: Critical point, normal target
Eyes: Pain Point, very small target
Mobility points: Effect Damage and Target Selection. Therefore, if a Mobility point is severely damaged, the chance of open targets is reduced. Critical points: Severely Damaged leads to death, even if hit points are not zero.
Pain Points: Greatly reduce Target Selection.
