The basic idea of ‘Clans of Elkyr’ is to maintain a clan of soliders, healers, etc., and destroy the infamous Ultima clan. You first start out by choosing the first five members of your clan. You may choose 3 from the beta list, and 2 from the alpha list. You have 4000 puntis to spend. From the beta list, there are Humans, which are 300 puntis. Their special ability is reading. There are Faeries, which cost 400 puntis. Their unique technique is Healing. There are Golems, which cost 400 puntis also. Their distinctive aptitude is destruction of non-living objects (i.e. rocks, ice). There are Elves, which are again, 400 puntis. Their individual ability is planting trees, which can later yield fruits and nuts. There are Marrs, only 200 puntis, who can deactivate computer programs and bombs. Finally, there are Djini, a high 500 puntis. They can melt ice and start fires. In the Alpha list, there are, in addition to the Beta list, Demi-Demis, a low 150 puntis. Their particular talent is to crawl into small spaces. There are Kappas, which cost 400 puntis. Their exclusive ability is swimming. There are Diablos, which are 600 puntis each. Their special technique is Flying. There are Cupids, which are 600 puntis also. Their unique aptitude is the ability to temporarily neutralize enemy clan members. Finally, there are Ghosts, which cost a whopping 1000 puntis. Their special ability is to go straight through solid objects. The remaining puntis are spent on housing. The small house is 500 puntis, and can contain 10 clan members. The medium house is 700 puntis, and can store 20 clan members. The largest house is 900 puntis, and can store 30 clan members. You can upgrade your house later for only 500 puntis each. After exceeding the limits of expansion for one house, you can buy another. Then, you can go and challenge different clans. The battle field is isometric, with 6 different levels of height, in addition to caves and lakes. You can move your units in any direction, and only 1 level of height at a time. You can also choose a leader of your clan, which has double stats. It would be wise to choose someone strong as a leader, so their stats would be magnified even more. After a battle, you receive puntis, cretas, and visuas, how much you gain would be represented by how well you did in the battle. Puntis are earned by completing the mission fast. Cretas are earned for destroying many bases, and killing many enemy units. Visuas are obtained by receiving little or no damage. Puntis are spent on material goods, such as new units and new housing. Cretas are spent on creta cards. In your house, you can combine creta cards to make new attacks. Visuas are used to buy visua cards. Adding visua cards to creta cards makes the attack look cool. An example would be:
C=(attack=50/range=3/spec.affect=paralyze) V=(lightning bolt/yellow shadow)
When your clan becomes more and more powerful, members of other clans might join yours instead. If your clan is on a losing streak, some members of your clan might quit. You’ll have at least 5 members all the time, though. All in all, this game is sort of like Final Fantasy Tactics, with a mix of Advance Wars and Golden Sun stuck in too.
