I love the story line games, but they are very unflexible. What I have in mind is a more interactive story line epic game, one that's not all hack and slash, but requires just a bit more thought. My idea is a (fantasy) world wrought with civil war. The monarch was assassinated and his heir believed to be as well. The game begins with a mortally wounded guard finding you and entrusting this heir into your care. I haven't decided if the heir should be a child that you should feed and keep happy throughout the game, or a young man or woman whom you could build a relationship with. Either way, on your way to the capitol city, you must keep them happy, healthy, and well fed or they may run away. All the while you must also protect them from assassins, brigands and hired cut-throats. It's not as simple as just fighting your way to the capitol and the castle, you have to eat and sleep. You must either hunt for food, buy food from an inn if you have money, or work for a farmer for a bit so he'll give you food and a place to rest. A bed will regenerate you faster than say a bedroll on the ground or a hayloft. If your character is particularly stealthy and don't mind sleeping on the ground a little further up the road, you may steal some food from the farmer, it takes less time and energy, unless of course you are caught and have the dogs set on you. Also, to gain backing for the heir, you should speak to the mayors and village councils to see what their problems are. You can start to build and army as you complete small tasks for the villages, such as slaying the local monster who has been terrorizing the countryside. You will need and army to take back the throne for the rightful heir. Here's another aspect that makes this game constantly fresh. You can choose from several different characters, and each begins in a different place, so it's like a different game with each different character you play with. For instance, The Druids begin from the forrest in the northeast, the Centaurs from the mountains in the northwest, Pirates from the port city in the west, Amazons from the jungle in the south, to name a few. The game is not identical for each character, but each starts the same distance from the capitol city in the center of the map. Each also has different strengths and weakness's, and as you complete the quest, you unlock something new, like an animal (different for each character) to help out the next time around. Each character will pass through different terrain and villages and cities, go through different adventures to get the heir to the capitol. Watch out for kidnappers! You may have to rescue your charge if you are inattentive, and try to make your charge like you so they won't run away on their own. So, goals of the game: Keep heir safe and happy on the way to restore the throne to them. Build an army by helping the villages out in their problems and gain backing by the local lords in the same way. Politics are integral in a kingdom, but be wary around the nobles, they're a tricky lot and the most likely to try and kidnap your charge. Keep yourself and your charge well fed and rested. you wouldn't want to run out of strength during a fight or battle. Most importantly, get your charge to the capitol city and restore the throne to them. If your charge dies, the game is over. If you die, the game is over. As with most every game, you start small and gain as you go. You can sell things you find, sell or use things a farmer may give you for helping out, or gain a dragons treasure after you slay him. Thieves and cut-throats may carry a little with them as well. If your skills are high enough, you can swipe a lords rings as you shake his hand, but be careful, or you may end up fighting your way out of a well guarded manor house. While thieving gains you quick loot, it gaind you no friends of backing for your army, so bear that in mind! I'd like this game to be highly interactive! So there you go. This is a game I would love to play. Any thoughts or input?
-Gabrielle (characters are still pretty cliche, but a little different eh?)
