Has anyone ever read Kristen Britains The Green Rider? Brief synopsis: A young woman (the daughter of a merchant) is kicked out of school for fighting with a noblemans son. She runs away and on her way home is intercepted by a dying green rider. Green riders are the kings special messengers and this man carries two arrows in his back, black soul stealing arrows. He begs the girl to carry his dire message to the king then dies. The girl, Karrigan G'ladheon by name, meets up with all sorts of interesting allies and many enemies as well on her way to the king.
A game based on this book would be interesting. A messenger of the king with use of special magical abilities brought on by the green riders winged horse brooch. The ability to dissappear for a short amount of time, a neglegible ability with a saber. The goal of the game would be to not only carry the kings messages, but gather valuable information about the kings enemies, especially those who he thinks are allies. Report the breach in the D'Yer wall which seals off the black forrest of Mornhavon the Black and help to defend the breach and eventually repair it. Help defeat the Elt who caused the breach and released wild magic into the land, all leading up to the final confrontation with Mornhavon the Black. Each green rider has different abilities from each brooch. One can call fire, one can throw up a wall, one can move things with their mind and so on. you should be able to choose which character and which ability you have.
Your allies include the King of course, other Green riders, The Berry sisters, Bunch and Bay, who will supply you with a bayberry and a bunchberry to use in times of need. They will provide aid. The ghost of the rider whose mission you undertook. An Eltish healer, a large woodsman who helps protect a green rider waystation and can give you valuable information on the goings on near the forrest, like who's sectretly going against the kings orders and chopping down trees in the protected forrest.
Enemies include Mornhaven the Black, the ancient enemy of all sacordians, the evil Elt who opened the breach and is stealing souls with the black arrows from the black forrest and forcing them to do his bidding. Catamounts, half man half cat creatures who are ferocious fighters, and the kings brother who is trying to usurp the throne from the shadows. You must find out which nobles are in support of him and which aren't as you battle your way through the lands bearing messages to and from the king, and then act on your information as needed, while also avoiding those who are trying to stop you.
Your weapons include your Saber, your Brooch which allows a special magic ability, an eltish moonstone which gives off light, and your horse. Green Riders develope a strong bond with their extremely intelligent and devoted mounts. There you go. Any ideas or suggestions?
