Learn Game Programming
DeVry's Game and Simulation Programming curriculum will prepare you for taking on various development roles in the game industry.
Game Art & Design Degree
Westwoods’s game art & design program will teach you everything you will need to know before you apply for a job in the game industry.
Think you can do better than Lincoln did during the nation's greatest tragedy-the Civil War? How about stopping the Bolsheviks from overthrowing the Russian Czar, ridding the world of Communism before it starts (as Woodrow Wilson)? Try getting through the Great Depression while staying out of World War II (as FDR). See if you can end Saddam Hussein's regime during the first Gulf War (as George H.W. Bush). Avoid tragedy by arresting and deporting the Al-Qaida hijackers before they have a chance to attack on September 11, 2001 (as George W. Bush). Are you looking for an even bigger challenge? Try Multi-President play! See if you can end slavery without firing a single shot. Use your diplomatic skills to keep Europe from igniting World War I. Keep American morale high while fighting the War in Vietnam to victory! Destroy the Al-Qaida terror network before it becomes a threat.
In order to become President of the United States you must first be elected. During a campaign, you must set your policies, raise campaign money if needed, and begin campaigning across the country. Your success will depend on your party, your policies, how much campaign money you can raise (or already have) and how you spend it, and how you plan your campaign trail. If your candidate is the current President your past performance will have an influence on your campaign.
You can play the game in Single President or Multi-President play.
If you play the game in Single President play, you will run as a former (or current) President of your choice during his time in office (however long it was), but you can choose to run as any historical candidate (even candidates that didn't win historical elections). You can even create your own candidate and even use your own name and picture. You must run another campaign for each additional term you are entitled to. At the end of the game, a scoring system will measure your overall job approval rating and other factors and give you a final score.
If you play the game in Multi-President play then you play by starting your first campaign in any year divisible by four from 1788-2000. You play the game term by term and continue throughout history up until the last term period in the game. You will be allowed more than two terms per President until Congress and the states pass an amendment banning it. If you lose an election, you lose the game, so make sure you choose a candidate that you think you can win with and be sure to save your game every time you start a new campaign. At the end of the game, you will be scored based on your Presidential political record.

i don't think i've ever seen a sim done like this. its interesting how you get to control the actions of various presidents throughout history and battle with some of the greatest problems to ever shake our country. to me its slightly resemblant of the pc game civilization...only it hits closer to us since it deals with our nation specifically. history buffs and sim heads will no doubt love it.

In the multiPres thing, why not, when you lose an election, simply lose that character as a usable character, you can try again in 4 years time with someone else and clean up their mess, so losing an election is a handicap rather than a game-ender. Perhaps being impeached (is that the term?) ends the game (so be careful as Nixon!). Secondly: how can you combat the 9/11 terrorists if the game ends in 2000 and they attacked in '01? Before then, terrorism was firmly the domain of the FBI/CIA, well out of the public (and hence politician) eye. Some more detail on how you feel the game should play. How do you get information? How do you give orders? Are your staff individuals with differing levels of competance which you have to hire and fire or are they assumed 100% competant? How will you manage the timeline in the MultiPres mode? imagine you stop WW1, likely WW2 will never happen (with no French sanctions on Germany, Nazi's would never rise to power!) So what would happen during tha time? There are so many permutations of events, it would be a nightmare of mammoth proprtions to code. However, it would make for an interesting game. Keep at it and you might have something.
