note: this is a work still in progress. it is not as big as asylum was but has interesting elements none the less. i think with this game there’s alot of disturbing psychological factors. it deals alot with inner demons and having to face ones karma. for those of you that are fan’s of jared he’s not the lead character in this game but he will return full force in the third soulmorphisis game.

soulmorphisis: nightsavior's shroud
the sequel? well if there was a sequel the main character would be female. i think at the stories heart it'd be about a young woman that has made all the wrong decisions and now she's left with the consequences. the town she is in has suddenly changed. an errie fog is everywhere and terrifying shadows move in the distance. unlike the first game, the heroine has less to work with than jared did. she's a 16 year old kid with only a very small idea of what is going on. as she explores her city she finds it over run by demons. her only guardian is groome the same great wolf spirit that helped jared in the first game as a summon. in this game groome attacks creatures trying to harm the heroine and often leads her to where she needs to go. since she hurt or manipulated many of those whom were close to her the heroine has a hard time building trust in those she comes across.
"i look around and i think is all this because of me? damn jeremy i didn't know i fscrewed you up in the head that bad. so now your this shroud of darkness thing and your turning my town into a carnival of nightmares. you want me dead,.....no you want everyone dead. i can see why you want me to bite the bullet. i was a lil bitch that whored around and only cared about myself. but jeremy there's good people here too people that don't deserve the same fate i do. i cannot let you kill my ma or my sis. can't let you take isabelle or reggie. even deputy wallace and killian have become friends. no. i must stop you jeremy. i'll kill you if i have to. even if it kills me too."

characters:
ember: main heroine. ember grew up in a trailor park and lived quite a wild life style ranging from drugs to sex. selfish and manipulative she often used those that got close to her. throughout the game ember sees her city has become a reflection of all the little evils she has caused. ember soon comes to realize she has to stop this mysterious darkness on her own.
groome: great dire wolf that sees the hidden good in ember and tries to aid her as a guide and guardian.
suzanne: ember's mother. suzanne suffers from a deep psychological disorder and can be two different people at the flip of a coin. though suzanne is scattered deep down she means well and has a good heart. due to her handicap suzanne wasn't able to raise her daughters as effeciently as she wanted to and feels guilt over that same reason.
nadine: embers older sister nadine has always tried knocking sense into her. much like ember when nadine was young she was reckless and hurt many people. later however nadine turned her life around and became a college student at falconsville university.
stubborn yet caring nadine wants her little sis to change her life around before its too late.
joey: ember's boyfriend that used her for sex, joey is a con man and a liar. though joey always claimed to want to be in the navy in truth he enjoys the easy life mooching off his parents . joey is quick to shoot off his mouth but when a real struggle arises he is the first to take flight and run.
killian: part of the noble red skinnned,gryphon footed efreet race killian is the coach at falconsville high school. killian likes making a difference in the life of students be they supernatural or human. killian often tried to get ember to attend school but she wouldn't listen. strong and good hearted killian just might help the young reluctant heroine on her quest.
lanthalas: nadines elfen boyfriend lan is into fast cars and rock and roll music. a bard of accomplished skill lan uses his music to heal or shatter bone. though a little full of himself (what elf isn't) lan is quick to help someone in need.
lyria: both a leading engineer and a scout for lachesis's school of the gifted lyria was part of the gallant giant lalandra race who were bred to protect all places of magic until she was micronized to fit in to human society. short fused and pig headed on occasion
lyria is also fully devoted to lillith and has a playful,loving side towards those whom she befriends. lyria is often harsh towards ember and truth be told harsh is sometimes what ember needs to wake up out of her pipe dream. lyria also is trained as a stealth soldier for when a situation demands lethal action.
reggie: son to finetti a powerful vodoun priest reggie has great budding magical potential. when the black shroud starts bubbling up from the cracked pavement reggie knows there is "bad voodoo" in the air. easy going and outgoing reggie can be a prankster at times but he also knows when to get serious and buckle down. reggie used to call ember "little trouble" and scolded her for not going to school. reggie is a close friend of jared o'sheely's.
note: the finetti family(except reggie) were an idea developed by alexander mclean.
jared: protagonist in the first game jared is called in by his friends lyria and reggie to investigate the weird incidents in falconsville city. what jared finds is a black shroud of paranormal energy that twists and warps any people who come into contact with it into nightmarish monsters. still jared takes a back seat in this game. occasionally he'll help ember fight or give her information but he is told telapathically by lillith ember is the one who must take down nightsavior for in a way she created him.
deputy wallace: a good man , tim wallace lost his wife to crime and swore he'd try to save as many people as possible from the same fate. at only 27 he is still young but has seen alot especially since the awakening. tim used to try to keep ember out of trouble
though ember dislikes the police she will have to ask tim for help. as time moves on she realizes he wasn't haressing her but rather trying to keep her out of harms way.
isabelle: a young succubus attending high school isabella is often picked on for her eccentric ways. ember used to be cruel to isabella but after seeing her cry in the girls bathroom one time decided to give her a break. being a demon isabella is very resourceful and alot prettier than people think underneath her glasses. as the saga goes on isabella becomes ember's best friend.
mephisto: a demon that specializes in punishing bad souls he has come to falconsville to collect on one of ember's old "debts". apparently mephisto promised the young girl she could live as free as she wanted but the price would be high. charming yet insidous mephisto helps ember only if he has something directly to gain from it. eventually however mephisto's daughter isabella convinces her daddy not to take ember to the"bad place." mephisto has two forms ...a raven with red eyes and a man waring an elegant black suit with a stunning gaze and long silvery hair.
broodlings: yes the broodlings are back. those cute iginutive lil bouncing bundles of trouble that want to play,play,PLAY! the broodlings will help ember solve certain puzzles. tough and resilent these baby demons can aid ember in combat situations as well.
puck: ember's imaginary friend puck is actually a servant of lillith and has helped many people in his long life span. puck often hides truth in riddles. he is willing to teach ember magic but only when she matures and drops her punk goth rebel false ideals.
nightsavior: mysterious shadowy wraithlike entity from ember's past night seeks to cover falconsville city in a shroud of nightmares. twisted into an abomination by his soulmorphisis jeremy was a sensitive artist who was one of ember's friends. however seeing her constantly use people and get used broke jeremy's heart. in what he saw as a world where chivilry was not appreciated, jeremy decided to become something of pure unfathomable evil. fueled solely by vengance,anger,and sorrow nightsavior wishes to recreate falconsville as a cemetary and wasteland for its surviving citizens.
the obivous changes: ok some of you fans(if there are any heh) might have noticed this game has less characters than the original. you might notice as well ember is not the supreme choosen warrior that jared is. rather than start out with fly moves and tons of weapons ember must learn or find everything in various places. ember's friends(those she has) will teach her new skills. from reggie for example ember learns the martial art cappawada. from jared she picks up things like blur speed and the knowledge of how to use a fire arm. everyone has something to teach. as for why there are less characters i wanted to tell a more compacted story that didn't have as many sub plots. falconsville is not as big as sanfransico. this is a story more on a psychological emotional level. its about how through our cruelty we often make monsters out of the people we once loved. its about a world where the good are tired of being stepped on so they become bad just to survive. but more than anything its about the pains of growing up. ember's is a struggle we all face. we all were rebellious teenagers once. we all got picked on and picked on others. sometimes what we did went too far . words like suicide became known to us. yes adolescence is a savage jungle. so i decided to show just how extreme the pains of growing up can be. in some ways you have to feel sorry for jeremy. he had so much potential and he was so good yet his sorrow consumed him and twisted him. ember the heroine will not always do things the players like. her words will not always be kind. this is because ember is a character that must outgrow the cocoon of ignorance she herself has choosen to live in so long.
shroud creatures:
zombies: a common after effect of the shroud ooze being in the grave yard is raising the dead. zombies are slow and lumbering but still have a nasty bite.
hell dogs: poor dogs caught in the shroud that reemerge as baleful eyed hounds with dripping fangs and bodies devoid of hair. hell dogs are quick and agile. beware their teeth.
shroud bat: flying pieces of the shroud that seek to drain life from the living. they look like bats only they are completly flat and have no features except red glowing eyes.
bloodworm: exactly identical to those in the first game. these carnivorous wyrms sense movement than go into a feeding frenzy
abyss walker: people who have been in the shroud and now are twisted beyond recognition. these part human monstrocities have whip like tendrils for arms and can make bone blades portrude from their flesh.
hunters: giant apelike creatures that have razorsharp blades going down their backs. they attack with a powerful roll or will try smashing you with their fist.
patch work dollies: dolls the shroud animated, these dollies carry sharp knives and wander abandoned toy stores in packs.
mannequin: life sized mannequins given life by the shroud they travel in twos and threes and have long blades extending from their forearms.
fly trap : even plants are corrupted by the shroud as shown by these giant man eating venus fly traps.
faceless: devoid of a face these phantom like creatures shoot ecto plasm bullets and dress like agents. it is believed they are from another dimension.
mirage: evil spirits that inhabit mirrors. they resemble the heroine in every way and can mimic her moves. be wary of them.
candleers: a form of doppleganger that can mimic those whom ember is most close to. in their true forms they look like heaps of dripping wax and lash out with slimy tentacles.
levels: as a whole the levels would look....dreary. since this is more of a survival horror rpg game there will be alot of shadows,rain, and fog. while i haven't decided what they will be i see them as being personal to ember, places she'd hang out at throughout her life. unlike jared she'd be less likely to visit factories,warhouses,and hidden bases. the highschool,derry queen,skater ramp,river underneath the bridge,arcade,and mall are canidates for possible areas. amber is 16 so naturally the enviorments should reflect that.
controls: as i said before i don't see ember starting out as being miss thang. no twin pistol shooting sword wielding babe here! in many ways ember starts out like a survival horror character. she can turn 360 degrees,open doors,walk up stairs,and when in a pinch punch,kick,and stab with a knife. what's great is the friends system. as i said before friends teach skillz. the more ember interacts with people the more she will rise in experience.

true aim: increases targeting by lining up enemies with a sniper's eye. / mentor: officer wallace

frost arrow: encase enemies in ice / mentor : puck
pyrokinesis: make enemies burst into flame / mentor: puck
guardian orbs: three hovering orbs that hover about the heroine and zap enemies with lightning. / mentor:puck
rage: temporarily increases damage of hits / mentor: nadine
voodo doll: when holding this doll ember can damage enemies in visual sight just by poking it with a long needle. mentor: reggie.
due to nightsavior the military has quaranteed most ppl to their homes. that leaves most areas empty(think silent hill) the only help ember will get is from the main characters . below i will list some areas in falconsville.
the school:the school is dark and foreboding. ember will have to use her flash light to navigate it. in the girls bathroom ember will meet isabella crying. despite friction between them in the past the two become fast friends. groome helps lead ember and isabelle to the school basement. it is their killian is fending off zombies with a sawed off shotgun. after helping killian amber makes another close friend.
the mall: the mall is a terrifying place now that malovolent toys and mannequins have come to life. when groome wanders off ember will have to fend for herself.
the sewer:the sewer leads out into looking glass lake where jeremy and ember played as children. mutated pirahna fish men will attack ember in hopes of eating her flesh. jared comes to the rescue in the beginning of the mission but ember will still have to fight on with groome by herself.
the burbs:in the burbs most ppl are reluctant to open their doors. as terrifying ghouls and hell dogs pursue ember she tries knocking on many doors for help but noone aids her. only after going to the wealthy jamaican finetti family is ember given safe haven. it is here ember will learn some things from reggie.
the trailor park:the trailor park is where ember interacts with suzanne and nadine. on one occasion while visiting, ember's mom suddenly attacks her with a knife calling her a demon child. ember will have to find a way to subdue her mom without harming her.
downtown: down town has small town favorite stores like marty's groceries and larry's sub shop. ember may have to avoid a few blood worms and some zombies. when ember goes to the fountain statue she sees its been twisted into a gruesome undead sword wielding maniac. as amber approaches it the statue comes to life. after ember defeats it she turns to leave but groome growls. ember hears shots fired and sees deputy wallace killed the golem before it could attack her from behind.
looking glass lake: this will be the final level where ember confronts jeremy. the forest will have many of the most grotesque and appaling creatures ember has ever faced.
fort locksley military base: lyria will help ember get past some security here. ember will visit the base on two occassions...as she enters the deeper levels she discovers the military was working on a dark symbiote that is powered off dark emotions. obivously the symbiote got free and melded with jeremy triggering his soulmorphisis into nightsavior.
the brown farm: the brown family lost their youngest daughter when a creature broke through the window and took her. following groome's lead ember is led to a living scare crow that uses the blood of children to gain more life. fortunatelly ember is able to defeat the scare crow before it hurts the girl.
the astral realm of souls: mephisto finally makes his pressence known telaporting ember into a grotesque realm of living sinew given life by many giant beating hearts. the creatures ember faces here are like nothing she's fought before. puck will help her navigate this macabre maze. after defeating mephisto ember proves to the demon lord her soul is worth saving.
elf reservation: in the elf reservation lanthalas will help ember hunt down dopplegangers masquerading as military personel.
endings: after jeremy is defeated ember has the option to kill him or let him live. the better ending is actually her letting jeremy live. below are both endings...
ember decides to kill jeremy thinking he'll never trully be free of nightsavior. unfortunately since nightsavior can no longer use jeremy as a host it melds with ember instead. as the camera goes through the town you see it is abandoned. suddenly a red eyed raven lands on a sign that says. "welcome to falconsville! we hope you enjoy our hospitality!" the last thing the players hear is ember screaming as nightsavior over takes her.
ember cannot bring herself to pull the trigger. she realizes jeremy became what he did partly because she neglected him and took advantage of his friendship. hugging him close she realizes she loves him a great deal. in time jeremy learns to live in harmony with the nightsavior symbiote. both jeremy and ember get engaged and go to lachesis's school of gifted youngsters to learn more about their newly awakened powers.
