It first bugged me when I got WWF War Zone for PS1; the fact that the announcers called my created wrestler Player 1 or Player 2, depending on whose house I was at at the time. It bugged me again in a NASCAR game I had on my PC. My driver's name was never announced. He was always called "that driver". It bugs me to this day, the fact that, as far as I know, no company has even tried to make a game say your created character's name. I'd like to change that.
Granted, it probably wouldn't sound very lifelike in the first few generations, but a program could be written to at least try to take the phonetic structure of a name and synthesize pronunciation of the name. At first, I think I could deal with being called Ah-Man-Dah. But as the program got revised and updated, I'm sure some company could make a game scream "YES!! Did you see the move Wrasslor pulled off on (random wrestler)?" Or "And with that move Amanda Fox takes the lead!"
I know it would take time, and I know that I'm not the only one with this little complaint. Any support out there?
I know I've been on the QT here lately. I'm working on my next idea, and it's already huge and not even 25 % done. Until next time, Dare to Dream. Go on, I dare ya.
