Living Dead!

 

Zombie survival sim/rpg/adventure game. 1st or 3rd person shooter view point based in a large expansive rural community. Very non linear game.

 

Game begins in the summer of 1955. You’re a traveling salesman, young, single, trying to make a name for yourself in Vacuum cleaners. Not so long ago you were an out of control, tough, punk kid. Only the recent death of your father made you see the error in your way and try to straighten up.

 

You’re on a new route lost on some back road in a farming community. The sun is almost beginning to set while you try desperately to find a station on your AM radio. Not paying attention to your gas gauge, you suddenly get a broadcast over your radio… “Living… Dead…. Hundreds! Coming back to life! Seek shelter immediately!” Then the transmission cuts out.

 

Just as you gaze down in bewilderment at your radio, your car begins to sputter and you crawl to a stop from lack of gasoline. The thought of being stranded out here far from a gas station temporarily makes you forget about the odd broadcast.

 

You get out of your vehicle and slam the door in frustration. “What to do now… and what was that peculiar radio broadcast?” you think to yourself. You gather your things from the vehicle and gaze down the dirt road at a farm house in the distance. “Perhaps they have a petrol pump… or a phone to call a wrecker”.

 

Now the player takes control of the character. You see a health and stamina meter on the bottom of the screen. You are given no more clues or hints as to what to do. Cars are drivable in this game but yours is obviously out of gas. If the player searches the truck you would find a steal crowbar or baseball bat which could be used as a weapon.

 

Eventually the player will have to make his way down to the farm house where he will encounter several zombies attacking a couple of the residents. He will help fend off the zombies eventually escaping to the house with one of the residents while the zombies devour the other. You will then talk and learn somewhat of what is going on.

 

From here the game is rather open ended. You can stay in the house but more and more zombies will be coming and it's only a matter of time till they will take over the house come for you.

It's weird that this idea, which isn't bad, is in the secondary index. It seems fine to me. Maybe some more detail is needed, but it's better than some of the ideas that are cheesy but take themselves seriously. I guess i just like the idea of a zombie game which takes place in real time, so if you wait in a house for an hour, the zombies will find their way to you. That sounds really cool and should be implemented, but they shouldnt' be fast zombies, like in some movies. Anyway, it'd be cool to have to fend them off and find a way to escape using things around you, while other survivors occasionally mess things up or turn into zombies unexpectedly. That would cause some much needed tension. Cool idea.
