Westwoods’s game art & design program will teach you everything you will need to know before you apply for a job in the game industry.
In every RPG, there is always a merchant or two. These people buy your items low and sell them high. What a way to make money. Now imagine you are the merchant? You are the travelling merchant.
You start with a small caravan delivering food and necessities. From one village to another selling the goods produced by the previous village you visited. Soon you begin to travel longer and more dangerous routes.
Merchants are not sissy accountants who just want to make money. They are adventurers. So once in a while at taverns or towns, you meet with a lucrative opportunity - to retrieve some item for gold. Arm yourself and hire some muscle and venture out to get the treasure. On your route there you might pick up other valuable stuff that can be for sale.
Of course merchants often meet with bandits, so you have to deal with them. There are more quests as you meet with stray villagers, sick people, famous heros, etc. Of course all are not without reward.
Like any other RPG, you gain experience along the way and gain skills too. You can even steal the items to add to your collection (if you gain the thief skill) Of course one of the perks of being a merchant is you can use the best equipment that you have for sale as your own, but you need to repair it (if you have the repair skill) to make sure it's sale value is higher.
I still havent come up with a story ending because it seems like you can play the merchant for ever and ever unless your character dies. Any suggestions?
