This game would put the player in the position of a war journalist, covering foreign conflicts in real world hotspots. It would be played as a first person style game, with graphics similar to some of the better first person shooter games. As a war correspondent for a major newspaper, the player would travel to real world conflicts and wars to cover the action. Missions would include infiltrating rebel camps to capture photographic evidence of war crimes, escaping besieged cities such as Grozny, Chechnya so that world will hear your story, covering battles and skirmishes, and doing stories on refugees. An example mission: Escape the surrounded city of Grozny with the film of Russian war atrocities before Russian paratroops seal off the remaining road to Georgia. In the example mission, the player would have to navigate his/her vehicle through tank/artillery fire, roadblocks, etc. Or, gain access to chemical weapons plants in Iraq and photograph evidence. The locations, as mentioned above, would be based on real conflicts in real places. These locations could include: Chechnya, Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Bosnia/Kosovo Province, Algeria, Somalia, Colombia, etc. The player would have access to various vehicles to help complete missions. The player could also have the usual body armor/health items (for a touch of realism, body armor would be the blue type with the white letters "TV" on it). Money would be made from these stories. One possible use of this money would be to pay for armed escorts, bribes, etc. Example: Bribe the pilot of the old Russian transport helicopter to fly you into the rebel held countryside, or briber the customs official at the border to "speed things up" . Money could also be used to buy better equipment (laptops, sat phones, video cameras, digital cameras,etc.). As the player becomes more successful, they would be given "promotions" to cover bigger conflicts. The player would also be able to make the choice whether or not to pick up arms (hey, Dan Rather packed heat whilst covering the Persian Gulf War). This game has the chance of impacting people in a more educational way. As well as being packed with adventure, it would help the player understand the factions at war, and why they are at war to begin with.

Really like the idea- original, clever and relevant. However, using REAL wars and sides might not be such a good a idea. Thinking purely from a legal standpoint (i.e. to avoid getting sued), saying that a certain country that DOES exist did certain war crimes in a certain place at a certain time could be, shall we say, risky. Remember (as an example) America and Russia are on relatively good terms at the moment. Don't you think the Russian leader (not even going to try and spell his name!) might be a little upset if he were to discover many young americans playing a game that says the Russians commited war crimes, whether there is proof that they did or not, or if you placed a disclaimer saying the game was not true or not, he might be a bit upset. Maybe not, but it IS tricky. Recommend fictionalistion as being the way to go, perhaps BASED on facts. Keep up the great work.
