Learn Game Programming
DeVry's Game and Simulation Programming curriculum will prepare you for taking on various development roles in the game industry.
Game Art & Design Degree
Westwoods’s game art & design program will teach you everything you will need to know before you apply for a job in the game industry.
In this game you command a vessel that can move in all directions, probably a space ship or perhaps an underwater vessel. The object of the game is still true to all racing games, get from point A to point B as fast as you can, but the catch is that there is no defined track to guide you to your destination, you have to find the way there yourself. A radar screen or perhaps an arrow at the top of the screen can give you an idea of where the finish line is but obviously you won’t be able to just aim straight for it. The player will have to make choices, navigate the asteroid field or fly through the unstable gaseous nebula; risk steering close to the monster’s lair or chance the muddy waters and the things lurking inside. For example, one round may be a huge planet, racers start at the north pole and have to get to the south pole, they can chose to fly through the interior of the plant, they can follow the surface of the planet in innumerable directions navigation through different weather formations, maybe avoiding alien cities with defensive turrets, etc. etc. The philosophical goal of the game is to free racing games from both the “track” which is pretty constricting, and from 2d steering. There will obviously be some limitations about where the racers can go, but if enough routes are available the illusion of infinite possibilities is created.
