Weekly Japanese Sales
10/17/2002
The week is over and PS2 drops Xbox picks up, overall a good week!
The week ending October 6th wasn’t all that much of a surprise week, with Xbox and GameCube being dwarfed by PlayStation 2. Today however, Media Create released the latest Japanese hardware charts covering the week ending October 13th and, while PS2 is still dwarfing Xbox and GameCube, the gap has been seriously lowered. This past week saw PlayStation 2 sales plummet down from around 39,000 last week to 32,900 units this week, a drop that actually caused Game Boy Advance to be the top seller with 33,000 units sold. The week also saw GameCube sales drop to 8,700 units, with Xbox fairing surprisingly well with 3,900 units sold, quite the increase over the 2,000 sold during the previous week.
